Signing out of your Apple ID is a common need when you're switching devices or giving your device to someone else. It generally requires a password to sign out of your Apple ID on an Apple device. But what if you forget or don’t have an Apple ID password and can’t sign out? Don’t worry, there are solutions that can help you out in this situation.

How to Sign out of Apple ID without Password

In this article, we will explore effective ways to sign out of Apple ID without a password. Whether you're using an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, we've got you covered with step-by-step instructions on how to fix this problem.

Method 1: Sign out of Apple ID without password in iOS

Apple has set up such a security mechanism that when the Find My feature on the device is on, a password is required to sign out of the Apple ID. So, just turn off Find My on your iPhone and you can sign out of your Apple ID without entering a password next time. Here are the steps.

Step 1: Go to Settings > your Apple ID name > Find My > Find My iPhone.

Step 2: Slide the Find My iPhone slider to off, then enter your Apple ID password and tap Turn Off.

Step 3: Go back to the Apple ID page in Settings and tap Sign Out at the bottom, then tap Sign Out again to confirm. The iPhone will sign out of your Apple ID immediately without requiring you to enter your password.

Method 2: Reset Apple ID password then sign out

If you have forgotten your Apple ID password and can’t sign out, resetting it is without a doubt the best course of action.

Step 1: On your iPhone, go to Settings > your Apple ID name > Password & Security.

Step 2: Tap Change Password and enter your current iPhone passcode, then set a new password for your Apple ID.

Step 3: Go back to the Apple ID page in Setting and tap Sign Out, then enter the new Apple ID password you just set to sign out.

Method 3: Sign out of Apple ID without password via factory reset

If you can’t retrieve your Apple ID password, you’ll have to sign out of your Apple ID by restoring your iPhone to factory settings.

Step 1: Make sure your iPhone has a screen lock passcode and memorize it, and make sure that Two-Factor Authentication is turned on for the Apple ID on your iPhone.

Step 2: Connect your iPhone to your computer via USB cable, then put the iPhone into recovery mode.

Step 3: Launch iTunes on your computer and you will then see a pop-up asking you to update or restore your iPhone. Select Restore and follow the onscreen prompts to confirm that you want to restore the iPhone.

Step 4: Wait for the iPhone to be restored to factory settings, which usually takes 10 to 30 minutes.

Step 5: Once the factory reset is complete, set up your iPhone as a new device.

Step 6: During the set-up process, when you are still asked to enter your previous Apple ID and password, tap Unlock with Passcode and select Use Device Passcode. Finally, enter the passcode that was previously used to unlock your iPhone and you’ll be able to completely remove the Apple ID and continue using your device.
